Description
4 sessions
Cost: $60
Skill level: Beginner

If you can knit and purl but have wondered about things like "why does
ribbing pull in?" and "what are those yarn labels trying to tell me?", then
this is the class for you.
This class is designed to help you understand your knitting. We'll
discuss stitch structure, texture, and flat vs. circular knitting.
I'll help you decipher yarn labels, pattern directions, and charts, and
we'll talk about knitting needles and the myriad of knitting notions
available.
Project
In
this class, you will knit a pillow cover for an 18-20” square pillow.
Plymouth Galway was used for the model.
Materials
-
Yarn – For a single-color pillow, purchase 300 grams of worsted weight
yarn. For a multi-color pillow, purchase 100 grams of four colors of
worsted weight yarn to make the model shown. Worsted weight yarn usually knits to a gauge of
between 4.75 and 5 stitches to the inch. I recommend that you use wool
or cotton for this class. The stitches will be easier to see and to work with, and
you will be able to block your finished knitting. If you don’t like to
work with pure wool, try a superwash wool or a wool blend.
-
Needles – U.S. size 7 (4.5 mm) 24 inch or 32 inch circular
needle, but bring everything you have in case you
want to adjust the needle size.
