Entrelac is a very cool knitting technique that resembles a basketweave pattern.  Felting (fulling, actually) involves turning your knitting into a solid fabric, and does wonders for hiding any inconsistencies formed while learning the Entrelac technique!

Project

In this class, you will use both Entrelac and felting to make a knitting (or whatever!) bag.  The bag pictured measures approximately 10" deep by 20" wide by 12" high (it's a big one!).  A smaller size is also an option, measuring approximately 10" deep by 10" wide by 12" high.

Materials

  • Yarn – See HOMEWORK for an explanation of yarn requirements.  Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted used for class model (larger size); eight 113 gram skeins (the base uses approximately 170 grams, each row of rectangles uses approximately 85 grams, and the top and strap use approximately 150 grams)
  • Needles – U.S. size 13 (9.0 mm) 24” (or longer) circular needle and U.S. size 13 (9.0 mm) double pointed needles
  • Blunt darning needle
  • Large stitch markers (scraps of yarn will work nicely)
  • Safety pins (4)
