Description

4 sessions

Cost:  $60

Skill level:  Intermediate.  I’d prefer that you know how to knit and purl before you take this class.

What can I say about sock knitting?  It’s easy, it’s fun, and it’s addicting!  This is a great introduction to circular knitting, if you have never knit in the round before.

Project

In this class, you will learn how to knit a very basic pair of socks, custom fit to your (or a lucky other’s) feet.  Stahl Wolle Big Ben was used for the model.  I don't know if Big Ben is still available, but Stahl Wolle makes other, comparable sock yarns.

Materials

  • Yarn – Two to three 50 gram skeins, plus 1 skein of contrasting color of same weight for heel and toe, if desired.
  • Reinforcing thread (optional) – we will discuss this in class before you need it.
  • Needles – Set of double pointed needles, appropriate to the yarn chosen, but bring everything you have in case you want to adjust the needle size.
